Long bio

Stewart Eichner is a Partner, Chief Legal Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer at CoinFund, a blockchain-native investment firm founded in 2015, and a leader on the executive team. He is responsible for overseeing the firm's legal, regulatory, and compliance affairs, and serves on the risk and operations, valuation, and executive committees. He was granted a US patent for managing liquidity for hybrid hedge funds.

Stewart brings more than three decades of investment management and legal experience to the role. Before joining CoinFund, he served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Rosecliff Venture Management, a registered investment adviser with more than $1.5 billion in assets under management, where he oversaw legal and compliance functions across early and growth-stage investments and private credit. Prior to that, he spent five years in a similar role at West Side Advisors, a fixed income-focused alternative asset manager. Earlier in his career, Stewart was a Managing Director and Senior Counsel at BlackRock, where he served as general counsel for nearly $100 billion in assets under management across more than 50 funds and managed accounts, and an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, where he led legal and compliance for a $6 billion hybrid real estate fund.

He writes and speaks on crypto regulation and digital asset market structure, and has been an active contributor to industry conversations on the evolving role of US regulatory agencies in the space. Stewart holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as associate editor of the Inter-American Law Review. Outside of work, he is into sports, particularly following his beloved Michigan Wolverines, taking long, mind-clearing drives, and reading.
