Long bio

Evan Feng is a Partner and Director of Research at CoinFund, a blockchain-native investment firm founded in 2015. He has spent the last six years investing across DeFi, decentralized AI (DeAI), and web3 gaming. He came to crypto from traditional finance, starting his career at Barclays before moving into fundamental long/short equities investing at Citadel and later Point72, where he covered stocks in the tech, media, and telecom sectors.

Evan got into crypto out of ideological conviction, shaped in part by his family history living under more authoritarian regimes. That history made the idea of trust-minimized, verifiable financial systems feel personal rather than abstract.

He believes the most interesting financial infrastructure of the next decade is being built onchain rather than inside banks, and his work at CoinFund sits at the intersection of DeFi, decentralized AI, and physical implementations of verifiable technology like robotics and defense. As director of research, he brings the same analytical rigor he developed in public markets to how CoinFund evaluates opportunities across the portfolio. Companies Evan has backed at CoinFund include Ondo, Delta Exchange, Gensyn, ether.fi, Perle and Veda.

He writes and speaks on the convergence of traditional and decentralized finance, and is a regular contributor to conversations across DeFi, decentralized AI, and web3 gaming. Outside of work, Evan is an avid gamer across all platforms, into the great outdoors, DIY projects, and sci-fi books. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting with a minor in Philosophy from New York University.
