Azi Mandias is an Investor at CoinFund, a blockchain-native investment firm founded in 2015, where he backs founders at the intersection of AI, consumer applications, privacy, and L1 infrastructure. He works with CoinFund’s portfolio as a former founder himself, having spent nearly four years building Zo Labs, where he worked on Latent Blockspace, a decentralized peer-to-peer operating system designed to enable novel forms of human-to-AI coordination. Before that, he was a crypto research lead at Steel Perlot, where he worked directly under Eric Schmidt (the former CEO of Google) in advising the crypto team on investment strategies across emerging technologies.
Azi is a cypherpunk and freedom maximalist with a deep conviction that the systems people rely on today, financial, social, and computational, are due for a fundamental rebuild. He believes new technologies, such as opinion markets, are early chapters in a much larger story about the financialization of everything, from culture to sports to information itself, and is particularly interested in what sovereignty, personal computing, and agentic applications look like when built on open, decentralized infrastructure.
Azi is an active voice in conversations across AI, consumer crypto, privacy, and the infrastructure layer being built for the next generation of decentralized applications. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from New York University, where he was active in Tech@NYU and Blockchain@NYU.
